How to Launch Your Video Marketing Campaign in 7 Easy Steps

Shalom Solomon

Whilst exploring the reasons why video marketing is important for businesses in our last post, we debunked the erroneous belief that video marketing is expensive. This assumption is one of the reasons business owners are reluctant to adopt video marketing as a strategy to advertise their business.

Another reason why entrepreneurs are hesitant to use videos for marketing is because they feel it is very difficult or complex to implement.
Well, in this post we'll walk you through the procedure for launching a video marketing campaign that works in six easy steps.
Before we dive in, let's remind ourselves that video marketing is simply the use of videos in any form to promote and advertise a business, brand or product.
Okay, now let's start...

Now, the steps for launching your own video marketing campaign.

1. Outline Your Goals
In almost all our "how to" posts on marketing, outlining your goals always comes as the first step for launching a campaign.
For your campaign to be effective, it needs a focus and direction. This is what outlining a goal for your video marketing campaign would enable you establish.

Now, although dreaming and thinking big is encouraged, it is more wise still to set goals that are achievable. That way you set a bar that you can reach with the resources within your control. And should you fall short of your expectations, you'd be able to pinpoint the particular areas where the fault stemmed from and possibly effect corrections.

2. Determine the Kind of Video Content You Want to Create

The next step is to determine the kind of video content you want to use to market your product. Digital Marketing expert Neil Patel, divided video content into three sections:
  • Educational Videos: marketing with such videos is tailored towards providing educating content to the audience. A wig seller for instance can create wig styling videos to promote her business.

  • Entertaining Videos: these are the most commonly used content for marketing. It is due to the fact that people love to consume entertaining content more than other types of content. Entertainment content includes music, comedy, drama and dance videos.
  • Inspirational videos: inspirational videos access the audience's emotions. Marketers  can use inspiring content like transformation, lifestyle and growth stories to market products. They can also use positive reviews from customers to inspire others into buying their products.
When choosing your content, pick one that resonates with the image of your brand and start with content you are familiar with too.

3. Draft a Budget

Of course we cannot talk about planning a Marketing campaign without mentioning finance. It is true that you can run your video marketing campaign on a zero budget. But, if you are planning on investing capital into your marketing campaign, you need a budget.
You have to determine how much you are willing to invest in relation to the cost of achieving your outlined goals and creating your desired video content.
This step is very vital as it would enable you avoid overspending. It would also enable you know for sure if your campaign is productive or not. Your campaign is productive only when the resulting sales is higher than the amount invested in the campaign.

4. Pick a Platform for Marketing

Videos on their own are easily consumed by every demographic of people. For your campaign to be effective, it has to be focused on the right audience. Social Media such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, are the golden platform for video marketing.
Since there are more multiple platforms to market on, you have to determine the platforms that connects you to your target audience.

Of course, you can use as many platforms as you can to market your products on.
At initiating stage, it is wise to ensure these platforms are actually necessary to avoid spreading yourself out and burning your resources. You can start on one platform and move out from there with time to other platforms.

5. Strategize

Now that you are fully equipped with the right pieces of information, it is time to go to the drawing board and strategize.
In strategizing, you develop a schedule, based on your goals and the platform you are marketing on. You draft an SEO driven description for your videos, with keywords to build and improve the traffic.
Try to research the marketing strategy of competitors and businesses ahead of the game in your niche. See what they are doing different that sets them apart from others and include the results into your strategy.
Your strategy will set the pace for your video marketing campaign.

6. Implementation

After checking all the above boxes, the stage for implementation is next. It is a delicate stage and should not be rushed. This is why the first five preparatory stages are very important.
You might not get amazing results on your first launch, keep calm and maintain consistency. Marketing experts have stated that you should be able to know if your campaign is growing or not after a period of three months. So maintain consistency with your content, if there are no marked changes towards your goals in three months time, then you go back to the stage of strategizing again. And work out any links that are crippling your campaign.

7. Track Your Progress

Of course you don't fold your hands after implementation. Your work doesn't end there. Thankfully, data analytics tools like Google analytics and ahrefs, have made tracking the progress of your marketing campaign easy and more efficient.
Tracking your progress would help you know if the video marketing campaign is generating traffic for your website and business or not.

Conclusion

That's it, When you properly carry out all the preparatory stages video marketing isn't that difficult to implement, is it?
Well, Good luck...
